Photoshop Controversy

For the longest time, I was anti-Photoshop because I thought that the editing was all about creating a perfect image for society. After reading a little more about the issue, I realize that I am not against Photoshopping or editing at all. In fact, I support Photoshop.

Recently, I discovered my budding interest for photography. When I take photos, I am looking through the camera at what is truly there. When I move the photos to a computer, I am able to notice certain imperfections. As the article that supports Photoshop says, "we overlook imperfections all the time." I could not agree more. Naturally, I would want to edit out an imperfection in a photo that I take. When editing a person's face, I know that the blemishes are not the true essence of a person. "We naturally focus on a person’s most identifiable parts, the features that are most quintessentially human." I completely agree because in photography, I want to capture the true, pure subject.

However, if the Photoshopping is absolutely ridiculous or if there is an obvious mistake, then I understand why others point it out or become upset. I respect both sides but in the end, am pro-Photoshop.
